Gelatin printing workshops at our Studio in Rockville, Maryland

in the last year ( Dec 2015-February 2017), we conducted a series of gelatin printing workshops at our studio!  We used mostly home-made gelatin plates.

All participants made cool and interesting textures and all agreed that, after this class, none of us will ever look at "junk" or discarded objects in the same way again.  We will forever be looking for "textures" in our environments...

As people learned how many textures and cool artsy effects can be achieved by using corrugated cardboard, old bottle caps, produce netting, paper and plastic or cloth doilies and so much more to make prints on the gel plate.

Not only a fun class, but a great opportunity to "upcycle" some discarded objects that we once thought had little value.  Examples included: old plastic "leaf" decorations, corrugated cardboard "sleeves" for coffee, many packaging bits and pieces, the soles of old flip flops or sneakers, kitchen trivets, bits of paper/plastic or textile lace, bubble wrap, and home-made stamping patterns from rubber erasers and fun foam, etc etc...

Some pictures follow to illustrate both our process (more on this to come) and outcomes, keep on gel printing....
